Burger Couple är en kedja i Buenos Aires som idag finns på tre platser runt om i Argentinas huvudstad, med lekfullt inredda restauranger med gott om pastellfärger. Vi beställde in två burgare: en Cuarto de Frula med två 100-gramsköttpuckar, cheddar, hackad lök, senap och ketchup samt deras Big Mac-inspirerade La Rikita, med två 100-gramsköttpuckar, cheddarost, hackad lök, pickles och burgardressing. Båda burgarna serverades med pommes frites och kostade 18500 ARS (185 SEK) styck.

Burgarna serverades i plåtkorgar tillsammans med en stor portion pommes frites, och allt såg väldigt inbjudande ut. Brödet hade en fin färg och låg bra i handen, men som så ofta i Argentina så var det mjukt och fick kämpa för att hålla emot alla såser. Brödet var också lite för stort i cheeseburgaren Cuarto de Frula men det passade riktigt bra den andra burgaren. Köttet var saftigt på insidan men hade smashats hårt med tunna lacy edges som var aningen knapriga på kanterna. Köttsmaken lyftes snyggt av den utmärkta kryddningen, och vi uppskattade syrligheten från deras pickles som piggade upp båda burgarna. Favoriten var helt klart deras Big Mac-kopia, då den var mer välbalanserad och hade bättre ratios. Här bidrog även den strimlade salladen med lite fräsch krispighet. Pommes fritesen var goda men något undersaltade – som alltid i Argentina – men det var lyckligtvis något vi enkelt kunde åtgärda själva.

Burger Couple gör riktigt goda smashburgare, och även om det fanns några detaljer som gärna får åtgärdas så är de helt klart värda att besökas nästa gång du är i Buenos Aires.

Burger Couple is a Buenos Aires-based chain with three locations across Argentina’s capital, featuring playfully decorated restaurants with plenty of pastel colours. We ordered two burgers: a Cuarto de Frula with two 100-gram beef patties, cheddar, chopped onions, ketchup and mustard, and their Big Mac-inspired La Rikita, with two 100-gram beef patties, cheddar, chopped onions, pickles and burger sauce. Both burgers were served with fries and cost 18,500 ARS (17.5 USD) each.

Our burgers were served in metal baskets along with a large portion of fries, and everything looked very inviting. The bun had a nice colour and was good in our hands, but as usual in Argentina it was very soft and struggled to contain all the sauces. The bun was also a little too big in the Cuarto de Frula cheeseburger but it fit the other burger really well. The patties were juicy on the inside but had been smashed hard with thin lacy edges that were slightly crispy on the edges. The meat flavour was elevated nicely by the excellently seasoning, and we appreciated the acidity of their pickles which brightened up both our burgers. Our favourite was clearly their Big Mac copy, as it was more balanced and had better ratios. Here, the shredded lettuce also contributed with some fresh crispness. The fries were nice but slightly under-salted – as always in Argentina – but fortunately that was something we could easily fix ourselves.

Burger Couple make really nice smashburgers, and even though they offered a few details that ought to be fixed, they are definitely worth a visit next time you are in Buenos Aires.

The Blique by Nobis hotel is located at Torsplan near S:t Eriksplan in Stockholm, and houses the three restaurants Arc Rooftop, Origo and Boketto. When we tested the burger at Boketto at the end of 2022, we got a burger that didn’t quite live up to our expectations, but after several reports that the burgers had improved, we went back for a second visit. The menu had one burger; the Blique Cheeseburger with a 130-gram beef patty, double burger cheese, chopped white onions, pickles, mustard and mayo. It cost 245 SEK (26 USD) including a generous portion of fries.

The burger was served in a lage brioche bun and contained a pretty thick patty with a nice crust and was a bit pink in the middle. It was well-seasoned and really tasty, but the meat flavors would have really benefited from a slightly larger patty. The well-melted cheese added both creaminess and flavor. The bun was nicely toasted on the inside and was sturdy, but it would have handled the mayo in the heel and the mustard in the crown even better if it had been toasted more. We really liked that they had compensated for the crunchy pickles’ sweetness by skipping ketchup in favor of just American yellow mustard, and the the flavor profile was really well-balanced with a lot of acidity. The white  onions also added flavor, and the only thing we missed here was that it should have been chopped a bit thicker for texture. The fries were very filling, but would have benefited from being fried a bit more so that they were more golden yellow. We liked that they came with both ketchup and a slightly mustardy mayo as well.

The Blique by Nobis burger was much better this time. If you’re staying at the hotel, the burger is an easy choice to have in their nice restaurant, but they are also worth checking out for non-guests in the Torsplan area.
