Burger Anonymous öppnade för snart tio år sedan i Sydney och har sedan dess vuxit till en liten minikedja med en otroligt snygg grafisk profil. Många enheter sitter ihop med syskonkedjan Tacos Anonymous, och vi besökte enheten i den trendiga stadsdelen Balmain där vi skippade Breaking Bad-signaturburgaren Heisenburger till förmån för en dubbel Apollo Cheese. Den innehöll ost, lök, pickles, senap och ketchup och kostade 15 AUD (90 kronor). Eftersom vi kom dit femton minuter innan stängning så fick vi ta med oss maten, så vi åt våra burgare i den trevliga parken på andra sidan gatan.
Burgaren såg ganska kladdig ut när vi vecklade ut pappret, och vi var tacksamma att de hade skickat med gott om servetter. Burgaren innehöll en hel del ketchup, och vi var lite orolig att den skulle ta överhanden. Men som tur var så var burgaren förvånansvärt välbalanserad, gojsig och god. Köttet smakade lite grillat och hade en hyfsad stekyta, men vi hade gärna sett en mer glansig crust än vad vi fick. Trots dubbla puckar kändes burgaren rätt brödtung, och vi hade nästan föredragit tre köttpuckar. En enkelburgare hade snarare varit mer av en macka än en burgare. Vi slogs också av hur mycket bättre den hade varit med lite mer svartpeppar, som hade kunnat lyfta smakerna markant. Men själva burgaren var god, och vi gillade både de dilliga picklesen och det härliga krispet från rödlöken – även om grönsakerna var lite slarvigt utspridda.
Burger Anonymous serverar en helt klart godkänd hamburgare. Som kedja betraktad så står de sig riktigt bra i konkurrensen, och vi ser även fram emot att utforska den närliggande tacomenyn i framtiden.

Burger Anonymous opened almost ten years ago in Sydney and has since grown into a small mini-chain with an incredibly stylish graphic profile. Many of their outlets are joined up with its sister chain Tacos Anonymous, and we visited the outlet in the trendy Balmain neighbourhood where we skipped the Breaking Bad signature burger, the Heisenburger, in favour of a double Apollo Cheese. It contained cheese, onions, pickles, ketchup and mustard and cost 15 AUD (10 USD). As we arrived fifteen minutes before closing time, we had to take our food with us, so we ate our burgers in the pleasant park across the street.
Our burgers looked pretty messy when we unwrapped it, and we were grateful that they had included plenty of napkins. There was a lot of ketchup, and we were a bit worried that it would be too overpowering. Luckily, the burger was surprisingly well-balanced, juicy and tasty. The meat tasted slightly grilled and had a decent sear, but we would have liked a glossier crust. Despite the double patties, the burger felt quite bun heavy, and we would almost have preferred three meat patties. A single burger would have been more like a sandwich than a burger. We were also struck by how much better it would have been with a little more black pepper, which could have significantly enhanced the flavours. But the burger itself was tasty, and we liked both the dill pickles and the lovely crunch of the red onion – even if the vegetables were a little carelessly distributed.
Burger Anonymous serve a pretty good hamburger. As a chain, they stand up really well to the competition, and we also look forward to exploring the nearby taco menu in the future.
