Dip It är en foodtruck som står utanför Nomad Brewery i Brookvale i norra Sydney. Grundarna är bröderna Jamie och Jessie, där den sistnämnde även driver Instagram-kontot Foodcoma_eats. Dip It serverar klassiska smashburgare med en twist, då de även säljer olika dippar till burgaren. Eftersom det var vårt första besök så rådfrågade vi personalen, och de rekommenderade en Double Long Beef med två köttpuckar, ost, lök, pickles och husets sås. Till detta föreslog de en irländsk curry som dipp. Vi tog måltiden som en kombo för 25,5 AUD (165 kronor), och då ingick dessutom pommes frites.

Burgaren serverades prydligt på en bricka och såg riktigt fin ut. Vi kan erkänna att vi inledningsvis var tveksamma till curryn, men tji fick vi. Det blev en liten smakresa där curryns milda hetta och sötma kompletterade burgarens smaker och gjorde den ännu mer intressant. Dippen gjorde dessutom att varje tugga upplevdes krämig och saftig. Köttet hade en rejäl stekyta och smakade gott, även om vi märkte att curryn tonade ned köttsmaken något när vi testade den med och utan dipp. Brödet hade gärna fått vara mer rostat för mer textur, med tanke på all dipp. Ingredienserna i burgaren var goda, men de kom verkligen till sin rätt när vi dippade den. Detta var alltså mer än bara en gimmick, då burgaren nådde helt nya höjder med detta tillbehör. Vi hade dock gärna sett fler pickles, eftersom de var så goda och tog slut alldeles för fort. Pommes fritesen var goda, krispiga och rejält kryddade.

Att äta på Dip It var en fantastiskt rolig upplevelse, och vi ser fram emot att återvända och testa fler kombinationer. För hur gott låter det inte med en burgare som doppas i thailändsk nam jim-sås eller en friterad kycklingburgare med karamellsås? Bara fantasin sätter gränserna.

Dip It is a food truck located outside Nomad Brewery in Brookvale in northern Sydney. The founders are brothers Jamie and Jessie, with the latter also running the Instagram account Foodcoma_eats. Dip It serve classic smash burgers with a twist, as they also sell different dips to go with the burger. As it was our first visit, we consulted the staff, who recommended a Double Long Beef with two beef patties, cheese, onions, pickles and house sauce. They also suggested an Irish curry as a dip. We took the meal as a combo for 25.5 AUD (18 USD), which also included fries.

The burger was served nicely on a tray and looked really tasty. We can admit that we were initially sceptical about the curry, but we were quickly proven wrong as it took us on a journey where the mild heat and sweetness of the curry complemented the flavours of the burger and made it even more interesting. The dip also made every bite feel creamy and juicy. The meat had a nice crust and tasted good, although we noticed that the curry toned down the flavour of the meat a bit when we tried it with and without the dip. The bun would have benefited from being more toasted for more texture, considering all the juiciness. The ingredients in the burger were good, but they really came into their own when we dipped the burger. This proved that it was than just a gimmick, as the burger reached new heights with it. However, we would have liked to have seen more pickles, as they were so good and ran out way too quickly. The fries were good, crispy and well seasoned.

Eating at Dip It was a really fun experience, and we look forward to returning and trying more combinations. Because we are intrigued by a beef burger dipped in Thai nam jim sauce or a fried chicken burger with caramel sauce. The only limit is your imagination.

The Blique by Nobis hotel is located at Torsplan near S:t Eriksplan in Stockholm, and houses the three restaurants Arc Rooftop, Origo and Boketto. When we tested the burger at Boketto at the end of 2022, we got a burger that didn’t quite live up to our expectations, but after several reports that the burgers had improved, we went back for a second visit. The menu had one burger; the Blique Cheeseburger with a 130-gram beef patty, double burger cheese, chopped white onions, pickles, mustard and mayo. It cost 245 SEK (26 USD) including a generous portion of fries.

The burger was served in a lage brioche bun and contained a pretty thick patty with a nice crust and was a bit pink in the middle. It was well-seasoned and really tasty, but the meat flavors would have really benefited from a slightly larger patty. The well-melted cheese added both creaminess and flavor. The bun was nicely toasted on the inside and was sturdy, but it would have handled the mayo in the heel and the mustard in the crown even better if it had been toasted more. We really liked that they had compensated for the crunchy pickles’ sweetness by skipping ketchup in favor of just American yellow mustard, and the the flavor profile was really well-balanced with a lot of acidity. The white  onions also added flavor, and the only thing we missed here was that it should have been chopped a bit thicker for texture. The fries were very filling, but would have benefited from being fried a bit more so that they were more golden yellow. We liked that they came with both ketchup and a slightly mustardy mayo as well.

The Blique by Nobis burger was much better this time. If you’re staying at the hotel, the burger is an easy choice to have in their nice restaurant, but they are also worth checking out for non-guests in the Torsplan area.
