Xepa är en kvarterskrog som öppnade i trendiga Santa Cecília-distriktet i São Paulo under 2023, och sedan dess har de utsetts som stadens bästa burgare av den välrenommerade burgarguiden Hambúrguer Perfeito. På deras breda meny finns fyra olika burgare, men det är deras signaturburgare Cheese Bacon à Cavalo som fått mest uppmärksamhet då den tagit inspiration från Au Cheval i Chicago och New York. Burgaren innehöll en tjock grillad köttpuck, ost, en rejäl skiva grillat bacon, majonnäs och ett gräslöksgarnerat stekt ägg för 79 BRL (135 kronor).

Det var inte bara ingredienserna som påminde om Au Cheval, utan burgaren serverades dessutom dekonstruerad i samma stil. Det mjuka potatisbrödet kändes väldigt följsamt i handen och höll ihop allting exemplariskt efter vi hade lagt på brödkronan. Köttet hade en fin och jämn medium-stekgrad, något som restaurangen själva rekommenderade, och en utmärkt mjuk textur som smälte i munnen. Köttet var otroligt saftigt med djupa bifftoner som verkligen tilltalade oss. Det tjocka baconet hade grillats hårt och fått ett par varv från pepparkvarnen på sig för att lyfta smakerna ytterligare, och var sensationellt god. Dess rökiga smak och sälta fungerade väldigt bra med köttet och det krämiga ägget. Om vi skulle nämna lite förbättringspotential här så hade baconet kunnat varit mer lättuggat, men det var ändå supergott. Pommes fritesen var välfriterade, med en skön krispighet och en ordentlig potatissmak som kompletterade måltiden fint.

Xepa serverar en utomordentligt bra burgare, och inte bara det utan de har även skapat en riktigt trevlig restaurang med en genomtänkt meny. Xepa är ytterligare ett exempel på varför São Paulo är en av världens bästa burgarstäder, och vi ser redan nu fram emot vårt nästa besök.

Xepa opened in 2023 in the trendy Santa Cecília district of São Paulo and has since been named the city’s best burger by the renowned burger guide Hambúrguer Perfeito. Their extensive menu offers four different burgers, but it’s their signature burger, the Cheese Bacon à Cavalo, that has received the most attention, taking inspiration from Au Cheval in Chicago and New York. Our burger consisted of a thick grilled beef patty, cheese, a generous slice of grilled bacon, mayo and a chive-garnished fried egg for BRL 79 (USD 13.5).

It was not only the ingredients that reminded us of Au Cheval, but the burger also arrived deconstructed in the same style. The soft potato bread felt very soft in our hands and held everything together admirably after we put the crown on. The patty was excellently cooked medium-rare, as recommended by the restaurant, and had a superbly soft texture that melted in the mouth. The patty was incredibly juicy with deep, beefy flavours that really resonated with us. The thick bacon, grilled hard and well seasoned with black pepper to bring out the flavours, was sensational. Its smoky flavour and saltiness worked very well with the meat and creamy egg. It was a little chewy, but still super tasty. The french fries were well cooked, with a nice crispness and a clear potato flavour that complemented the meal nicely.

Xepa serve excellent burgers and has also created a very atmospheric restaurant with a well thought-out menu. Xepa is yet another example of why São Paulo is one of the world’s leading burger cities, and we can’t wait to visit again.

She Burger is a restaurant chain with several locations in Dubai and around the Middle East, and they participated in the Dubai Burger Championship 2026. The burger they served at the festival was the same name as the restaurant, She Burger, and it consisted of two smashed beef patties, roasted onions, veal bacon jam with a lot of coffee, and their signature sauce for 60 AED (16.5 USD).

We immediately felt that the burger had a very international appearance when we saw it, and it offered a well-shaped brioche bun, plenty of toppings, double meat patties. The bun was soft and had a good size, but the heel would have been able to handle the beef juices better if they’d let the patties rest before assembly. The Black Angus meat had a strong meat flavour with a robust seasoning, but we felt that the crust should have been more pronounced and that the meat could have been even juicier. The fried onion was texturally brilliant, and it added both flavour and a lovely crunch that the burger really needed. The veal bacon jam was incredibly good and had a much more mature taste than we are normally used to. It was very coffee heavy, which we really appreciated. On the other hand, the signature sauce was completely anonymous and didn’t make any real impression.

She Burger do a lot right with this burger, but they need to refine the details and the meat to really make it a winner. But that being said, they offer one of the better burgers in Dubai.

Thellas is a food truck in Gävle that we’ve heard a lot of positive things about since they opened in 2024. The menu at the time of our visit consisted of four beef burgers and a vegetarian option. We chose the classic ”Thellas Cheese” cheeseburger with double burger cheese, silver onions, dill pickles, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. A single patty burger cost 115 SEK (12.5 USD), but we ordered a double 120-gram patty burger with for 145 SEK (15.5 USD) and also added 30 SEK (3 USD) for french fries and 15 SEK (1.5 USD) for a chili mayo.

There was a long line of people waiting for their food, and when the burger was served we were greeted by a well-composed and inviting cheeseburger. The first bite was incredibly flavourful and juicy, with a very clear crust on the patties. The beef was well-seasoned with a generous amount of coarsely ground black pepper. And the creamy cheese was delicious and nicely melted over the beef. Unfortunately, the bun was a bit of a disappointment, because despite looking good, it had been toasted for too long on the grill and lacked the fluffy texture we expect from a brioche bun. Their own-pickled cucumber was delicious and added both acidity and crunch, and we would have liked to see more of it so that it was spread over the entire burger. All the sauces did their job without standing out and were also in the right amount, without any one of them overpowering the others. We also liked the generous portion of crispy french fries, and the smoky chilli mayo was tasty – although it could have been a bit spicier.

Thellas undoubtedly serve one of the better burgers we’ve eaten in Gävle, and the service from the guys in the food truck was excellent as well. We definitely recommend keeping an eye on their schedule and visiting them if you’re in the area.
