In English
Baps is a smashburger joint in Belfast, Northern Ireland, that has quickly made a name for itself, and they are currently the most talked-about burger restaurant in the capital. We had the chance to try them out at the Burger Fest UK where they served several different burgers, and we ordered their simple Classic burger with aged beef, American cheese, lettuce, spring onion, pickles, and dressing for 10 GBP (13.5 USD).
It was impossible to deny the West Coast vibes we got from the burger when it was arrived with its with thinly smashed patty together with the lettuce and dressing. The beef had a nice crust on it that we appreciated, and it had a good amount of seasoning. So the flavour was definitely there, even though we would have liked the dry-aged flavour to be more prominent. The cheese had melted nicely and added a much-needed creaminess to everything. The sesame-seeded bun looked nice, but it was a bit dry and the heel struggled to hold everything together. The pickles and sauce gave everything a noticeable tang that cut through all the fatty flavours, which made everything more fun and fresh to eat. The shredded lettuce also added a nice crunch and crispy freshness, and we were really happy with the end result.
Baps’ burgers are both simple and well-thought-out, and we really appreciated their approach. Because if you can get a burger this simple right, you really understand the basics of how to make a good burger. We look forward to visiting Northern Ireland and their restaurant in central Belfast to try more from their menu in the future, to see what they can do on their home turf.
