Welcome to the neighbourhood

In English

Neighbourhood is centrally located in the southern part of Lisbon and is primarily known as a brunch café. The interior feels modern and inviting, with a rustic touch and a solid coffee menu. But in the evenings, they switch to more substantial dishes and also serve a handful of different craft burgers. The burger menu consists of four beef burgers and one vegetarian option, and we chose The Ronald with two beef patties, double cheddar, chopped onion, lettuce, pickles, ketchup and mustard, and The O.G with two beef patties, double cheddar, fried onion, lettuce, pickles, mustard and aioli. The came with a portion of french fries and cost 13.50 EUR (15.5 USD).

Our burgers were nicely assembled together, with double beef patties and a really good beef-to-bun ratio. The crusts stuck out over the edge of the bun, and the meat had been smashed really hard. But it was still crispy without being crunchy. The Ronald offered classic flavours, but was a little too sweet. The O.G. was more interesting, and the crispy vegetables made it quite fresh. The fried onions and flavourful aioli were also appreciated. The shiny bread was soft but had been toasted more on the outside than on the inside. As a result, it wasn’t very pliable, and our burger had a hard time staying together throughout the meal, sliding around every time we took a bite. The french fries that came with the meal were rustic and crispy with plenty of flavour.

Neighbourhood serve good burgers, and we really like their overall concept. We look forward to visiting them again during the day to soak up the pleasant atmosphere the next time we return to Portugal’s capital, and we’ll gladly return for some burgers as well.

🍔 Review № 1381

Black Bear Burger is one of the veterans of the modern burger wave in England, and we have tried their burgers several times since our first review in 2017. Over the years, Black Bear Burger has received more and more attention and hype, both domestically and internationally, and today they are one of the most well-known burger restaurants in all of England. They have locations at nearly 10 places around London, and we visited their restaurant inside the Market Halls Victoria food hall and ordered their Double Miso Bacon Burger – the same burger that won them the National Burger of the Year 2025 award. The burger contained double patties, double cheese, smoked bacon and their miso butter mayo, and it cost 15.8 GBP (21 USD).

The burger looked exactly as we remembered it, with pre-formed patties and a pale bun covered in a generous layer of sesame seeds. The bun was soft and fluffy, but just like on our previous visits, we felt that the crust-like amount of sesame seeds took over both in terms of flavour and texture. The meat was of high quality as always and had a nice and potent dry-aged character that they are known for. The meat could have been juicier though, as it felt a bit too compact this time. The bacon was super tasty and crispy, just the way we like it, and the onion also contributed a nice texture. Their miso butter mayo was very flavourful with its buttery, salty, and umami-rich taste, but together with the bacon and the beef, the overall flavour profile was a bit too salty. We would have liked to see some kind of freshness to break up the saltiness for a more complete experience.

We are very happy that a veteran like Black Bear Burger continues to deliver high-quality burgers year after year, and they are still a safe bet when you are craving a really good burger in London.
