In English

Grillogården opened their first restaurant in Hammarkullen in north-east Gothenburg, and also expanded to Sävedalen just before Partille. We visited ithemlast year and liked their burgers, and since weäve heard even more positive things about them since then it was time for a revisit. So we returned to the Sävedalen restaurant, which was bright and inviting, offering plenty of seating. The menu was long, but we finally settled for a Double HK’s Cheese with cheese, red onions, pickles, dressing, ketchup and mustard, and a Double HK’s Jalapeño Cheese with cheese, chilli cheese, jalapeños, lettuce and chilli mayo. Both double burgers cost 189 SEK (20 USD) each, including french fries.

Both of our burgers were pretty large and nice-looking. The buns were big; fluffy on the outside and well toasted on the inside. The meat was very flavourful, even though it could have used a little more seasoning and a more distinct crust. But it was juicy, and a double burger gave the burger very good ratios. Our HK’s Jalapeño Cheese had a distinct heat, and we appreciated the creaminess of the generous amount of chilli cheese and the crispiness of the lettuce. This was a really good chilli burger. Unfortunately, the HK’s Cheese contained Swedish mustard, which gave it a bit of a grill kiosk feel. We would have really preferred American yellow mustard, but other than that, this was a solid cheeseburger. The generous portion of french fries was well cooked and filling, and we also liked their flavourful and spicy chilli dressing.

Grillogården’s burgers are substantial in both size and flavour, and we were even more impressed by them this time around. We can really recommend a visit the next time you’re in Sävedalen or Hammarkullen.

Grillogården opened their first restaurant in Hammarkullen in 2023, and in autumn 2024 it was time for restaurant number two in Sävedalen. We visited the latter, and the spacious restaurant was packed. It was obvious that they are a popular addition to the area, and their large menu offered a total of 14 different burgers, with ten beef burgers plus chicken, fish, halloumi and vegan options. We ordered the classic HK’s Cheese with a 120-gram beef patty, cheddar, red onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard and their house ”Kullen” sauce. A menu with fries and a soft drink cost 135 SEK (12.5 USD).

Our burger arrived after only a few minutes, and looked very nice. The patty had been smashed thinly and offered a decent crust, although it could have been a bit deeper. We liked the beefiness, but we would have liked to see a little more punch in the flavours – both in the patty and throughout the burger. The bun was held up well against the meat juices, but it was a bit chewy and not very soft or fluffy which was a shame. We liked how nicely the cheese had melted, but we would have preferred a more acidic dill oval instead of their long, salty pickle slices for a better balance. Their homemade Kullen sauce was a real hit, and felt like a slightly more piquant and flavourful rhode island dressing that worked great here. The fries were crispy with a distinct potato flavour, and were excellently suited to dipping in even more Kullen sauce on the side for 12 SEK (1 USD).

Overall, Grillogården serve a solid burger, with high ambitions from its owner. And even though we would have liked to see a little more attention to detail, we definitely understand why they are as popular as they are in the area. But with that being said, there is still plenty of room for improvement here.

🇸🇪 Mother of Wagon ★★★★☆

Mother of Wagon opened by Arboga’s train station in the summer of 2026, and is actually run by the mother of the owner of The Wagon Burgers & Brews in Stockholm. Besides the clever name, they also offered four burgers, all of which could be made vegetarian. We ordered a Cheeseburger with two 100-gram mustard-smashed beef patties, cheddar, onions, pickles, ketchup and dressing in a brioche bun. It cost 130 SEK (14 USD), and we also added fries for 30 SEK (3 USD).

The burger looked really good when it arrived, even if it had been assembled somewhat hastily with a lot of sauce. The flavours worked well, but all that sauce made it a little difficult to eat as the patties kept sliding around. The beef from a local farm in Örebro was generously seasoned and had plenty of flavour. However, it had been slightly overworked and was a bit too compact, and we would’ve preferred a more airy texture. The cheese had melted nicely over the patties, and we also appreciated that the fluffy bun had been nicely toasted on the inside, helping it hold together throughout the meal. We liked the finely chopped onions, while the pickles were crunchy, if slightly sweet. Although the mustard smash added plenty of flavour to the beef, we would’ve appreciated the acidity of American yellow mustard instead of the fairly sweet burger sauce. The fries came in a very generous portion and were thick and well-cooked, but slightly too heavily salted.

Mother of Wagon has managed to build a really solid foundation in just a few months, and the friendly staff also contributed to the experience. We’re really happy that it’s now possible to get a good burger in central Arboga.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 @hanbaagaasuuteeki ★★★★☆

Hanbaagaasuuteeki opened their burger restaurant near London Victoria in the summer of 2025. Since then, they have gone viral for their Asian-inspired burgers and their rather unique name, which is a play on ”hamburger steak”. The restaurant is stripped-back and consists mainly of counter seating, and the menu featured four different beef burgers. We ordered the Another Double Cheese Burger for 9 GBP (12 USD), the spicy Kimchi Burger for 11 GBP (15 USD) and the onion-smashed Thai Okla Bāgā 2.0 for 14 GBP (19 USD). We also tried their Sūpā Poteto, fries topped with wasabi and seaweed, for 8 GBP (11 USD).

Our food was served on small paper plates and everything looked really interesting. The beef had crispy edges while remaining juicy. The buns held together well, but hadn’t been toasted enough on the inside and became a bit too soft. The Kimchi Burger was our favourite, with lots of flavours that worked well together. The fresh acidity made the burger feel both balanced and surprisingly light. Their Thai burger was an Asian take on an Oklahoma Smash, with a noticeable but pleasant heat along with some nice nutty notes. However, the amount of lettuce made it a little difficult to bite through. The cheeseburger was overshadowed by its more adventurous siblings. It was a little too anonymous, and we disliked their overly sweet pickles. The wasabi and seaweed fries, on the other hand, were great! The portion was generous, the flavours were spot on and they were well worth the price. Extra points for serving them with chopsticks, an unexpected but practical touch that made it possible to eat the saucy creation without making a mess.

We definitely recommend a visit to Hanbaagaasuuteeki, especially for the more adventurous options on the menu. The wilder creations are the ones that steal the show here, so don’t be afraid to venture outside your comfort zone!
