In English

We first reviewed BOC Sthlm in the spring of 2022 when they were newly opened. Since then, they’ve changed their name from Burger on the Corner, closed for a longer period of time and now also rebranded themselves as a burger and brunch place. The location near Skarpnäcks metro station in southern Stockholm is still the same, and so is their short but concise burger menu. During our latest visit, they still offered a handful different burgers, and we ordered their Cheesy Bee with cheese, onions, pickles, mayo, ketchup and mustard. The regular price was 125 SEK (11.5 USD), and the lunch deal for just a bit more included fries and a soft drink. Doubling up with another 100-gram beef patty cost 20 SEK (2 USD).

Our double cheeseburger looked really impressive. The large and soft bun was fluffy and went very well with the double beef patties ratio-wise. The beef patties had a crisp crust and were well seasoned, and they had been covered with large amounts of creamy melted cheese. The yellow onions were chopped and well distributed, but even though we liked the crunchiness of their pickles, they were far too salty. A bit more acidity or dill flavour would have really worked better here. This was a big burger with generous amounts of everything, and both the ketchup and mustard took up a lot of space. This gave the burger a very classic cheeseburger vibe, although there was almost too much mayo. Some of the fries were overcooked, but the portion was generous and the fries that weren’t cooked too long tasted very nice.

BOC Sthlm have really stepped up their burger game since our last visit. They have gone from being a nice addition to the neighbourhood to the obvious burger choice the next time you’re hungry in Skarpnäck.

🍔 Review № 1381

Black Bear Burger is one of the veterans of the modern burger wave in England, and we have tried their burgers several times since our first review in 2017. Over the years, Black Bear Burger has received more and more attention and hype, both domestically and internationally, and today they are one of the most well-known burger restaurants in all of England. They have locations at nearly 10 places around London, and we visited their restaurant inside the Market Halls Victoria food hall and ordered their Double Miso Bacon Burger – the same burger that won them the National Burger of the Year 2025 award. The burger contained double patties, double cheese, smoked bacon and their miso butter mayo, and it cost 15.8 GBP (21 USD).

The burger looked exactly as we remembered it, with pre-formed patties and a pale bun covered in a generous layer of sesame seeds. The bun was soft and fluffy, but just like on our previous visits, we felt that the crust-like amount of sesame seeds took over both in terms of flavour and texture. The meat was of high quality as always and had a nice and potent dry-aged character that they are known for. The meat could have been juicier though, as it felt a bit too compact this time. The bacon was super tasty and crispy, just the way we like it, and the onion also contributed a nice texture. Their miso butter mayo was very flavourful with its buttery, salty, and umami-rich taste, but together with the bacon and the beef, the overall flavour profile was a bit too salty. We would have liked to see some kind of freshness to break up the saltiness for a more complete experience.

We are very happy that a veteran like Black Bear Burger continues to deliver high-quality burgers year after year, and they are still a safe bet when you are craving a really good burger in London.
