In English

FM City Burger is a newly opened burger restaurant in Solna, just north of Stockholm, and offers a large menu. Here you can also choose between a single 180-gram beef patty or two smashed 90-gram beef patties. We ordered an FM Classic Cheese Burger with a single patty, cheese, onions, pickles, mayo, mustard and ketchup for 119 SEK (12 USD), and an Oklahoma Onion Style with two smashed patties, cheese, onions, pickles, sauce and mustard for 135 SEK (13.5 USD). The price also included fries and drinks during their lunch service.

Our burgers arrived in paper pockets and looked really tasty, especially our cheeseburger which had lovely contrasting colours. The sesame flavoured bun had a nice appearance, but was a bit cold on the outside despite being properly toasted on the inside. The patties on both burgers had a decent texture, and our thicker beef patty was also slightly pink in the centre. We liked the degree of doneness, but the beef flavour was quite anonymous and quickly got lost among all the other ingredients. Even the crust left a bit to be desired, and oddly enough, we thought the thicker patty had a nicer crust than the smashed ones. The Oklahoma burger tasted good, but the onions were way too thick and hadn’t been smashed into the beef, so the magic combination of thin onions almost melting into the meat was sadly missing. This was more of a thick layer of fried onions that pretty much took over the whole flavour profile, and not even the tart pickles managed to break through. The cheeseburger was better balanced, and we appreciated that they had added a lot of mayo, ketchup and mustard to bring out the classic flavours. The fries were also really enjoyable, thin and properly crispy with a distinct potato taste.

FM City Burger may lack a bit of flair, but their decent and affordable burgers and the welcoming environment still make them a fine option in Solna.

🍔 Review № 1397

🇺🇸 @localtide ★★★★☆

Local Tide is a hyped fish restaurant in central Seattle. And while most of the menu focuses on seafood, their burger has also become a bit of a talking point. They don’t take reservations, and when we arrived there were around 20 people queuing outside the small restaurant, with an hour-long wait. Luckily, there was space next door at Aslan Brewing, which served their burger and a handful of other dishes from Local Tide. We ordered their Smash Burger with beef, cheese, caramelised onions and mayo in a brioche bun for 10 USD, as well as a portion of Salt and Pepper Fries for 8 USD. We also tried their Salmon Sando for 16 USD.

After waiting around an hour for our food, our burger arrived neatly presented on a small plate. The bun looked a little flat but was lighter and fluffier than we’d expected. The beef was incredibly juicy and well salted, while the cheese was both creamy and flavourful. The caramelised onions were packed with umami and really enhanced the flavour of the beef. Both the bun and beef had a decent crust, although both could’ve been cooked a little more. Our main critique was that the burger would’ve been even better with a few more crispy components, and perhaps a bit bigger. The fries were like potato wedges and were incredibly well cooked. The generous portion was crispy and well seasoned, and their homemade ketchup was really tasty. The 16 USD salmon burger also impressed us with its fresh salmon fillet, great textures and fresh flavours.

It’s great to see a seafood restaurant serving burgers as good as the ones at Local Tide. The other seafood dishes are of course also worth trying, but make sure to arrive early and be prepared to wait a while for your food.
