In English

Perez-H is an Argentinian burger chain that currently has six restaurants in Buenos Aires. We visited their centrally located and cramped Microcentro location, which was small and wonderfully busy. Despite the atmosphere, the place felt genuinely cosy and shabby-chic, and the noise level was still completely acceptable. The prices were reasonable, and we ordered their Double Mantequita with double cheddar cheese and smoked butter for 13,000 ARS (12 USD).

Our burgers were small and neat, with plenty of melted cheese and a really nice crust and flavour to the patty. The bun was one of the nicer ones we encountered during our trip; super squishy and fluffy with a buttery flavour. It was also soft without being doughy, which has been common in Argentina. The beef was tasty but a little chewy, but it was still juicy and well-seasoned. We appreciated the creaminess from the four flavoursome cheese slices, but overall the burgers were a little too simple and uncomplicated. They were elevated, however, when we added pickles, which livened up the burger. Therefore, we would have liked to see a middle ground, i.e. a simpler burger that still offered some interesting textures. Maybe we should have chosen one of their more wild burgers, but the cheeseburger was still passed with flying colours. The fries for 6,500 ARS (6 USD) were rustic and tasted great, and after adding some salt they tied our meal together excellently with their crispy skin and creamy centre.

Perez-H serve affordable and slightly plain burgers, and felt like a throwback to a simpler time. Head here for a quick and easy burger meal when you’re on the go in the City of Fair Winds.

🍔 Review № 1397

🇺🇸 @localtide ★★★★☆

Local Tide is a hyped fish restaurant in central Seattle. And while most of the menu focuses on seafood, their burger has also become a bit of a talking point. They don’t take reservations, and when we arrived there were around 20 people queuing outside the small restaurant, with an hour-long wait. Luckily, there was space next door at Aslan Brewing, which served their burger and a handful of other dishes from Local Tide. We ordered their Smash Burger with beef, cheese, caramelised onions and mayo in a brioche bun for 10 USD, as well as a portion of Salt and Pepper Fries for 8 USD. We also tried their Salmon Sando for 16 USD.

After waiting around an hour for our food, our burger arrived neatly presented on a small plate. The bun looked a little flat but was lighter and fluffier than we’d expected. The beef was incredibly juicy and well salted, while the cheese was both creamy and flavourful. The caramelised onions were packed with umami and really enhanced the flavour of the beef. Both the bun and beef had a decent crust, although both could’ve been cooked a little more. Our main critique was that the burger would’ve been even better with a few more crispy components, and perhaps a bit bigger. The fries were like potato wedges and were incredibly well cooked. The generous portion was crispy and well seasoned, and their homemade ketchup was really tasty. The 16 USD salmon burger also impressed us with its fresh salmon fillet, great textures and fresh flavours.

It’s great to see a seafood restaurant serving burgers as good as the ones at Local Tide. The other seafood dishes are of course also worth trying, but make sure to arrive early and be prepared to wait a while for your food.
