Allégrillen i Karlstad är en klassisk grillkiosk som vi fått många tips om genom åren. Hamburgermenyn består av tio burgare varav ett vegetariskt alternativ, och alla köttburgare går att få med enkelt, dubbelt eller trippelt kött. Vi beställde en dubbel ”Klassisk” burgare med två köttpuckar à 100 gram, ost, isbergssallad, tomat, inlagd gurka och hamburgerdressing. Vi lade till bacon för ytterligare 12 kronor, och betalade totalt 132 kronor.

Tyvärr så märkte vi av ett problem så fort vi fått vår hamburgare, för en stor osmält ostskiva är aldrig ett gott tecken. Och när vi tog vår första tugga så kände vi att köttpuckarna borde ha smashats lite hårdare, då de var så pass tjocka att vår dubbelburgare blev oproportionerligt hög och ganska svår att äta. Köttsmaken var som tur var riktigt god, och burgaren i sig var väldigt saftig. Utöver den osmälta ostskivan så var dressingen lite för söt för vår smak, och baconskivorna var ganska sladdriga. Salladen och tomaten gjorde sitt jobb utan att sticka ut och det fint uppvärmda briochebrödet höll i alla fall ihop allt snyggt.

Totalt sett så smakade vår burgare på Allégrillen ändå ganska gott, men priset var alldeles för högt för att de ska kunna göra så här pass många missar. Servicen var varm och trevlig, och kanske är det den som bidrar till att stammisarna gör återbesök. För själva burgarna lämnar tyvärr alldeles för mycket att önska.

Allégrillen in Karlstad is a classic grill kiosk that we’ve received many tips about over the years. Their hamburger menu consists of 10 different burgers, including one vegetarian option. All of the beef burgers can be ordered with single, double or triple patties, and we ordered a double ”Klassisk” burger with two 100-gram beef patties, cheese, iceberg lettuce, tomato, pickles and burger sauce. We added bacon for an additional 12 SEK (1 USD) and paid a total of 132 SEK (13.5 USD) for our burger.

Unfortunately we immediately noticed a big problem as soon as we got our burger, as the cheese wasn’t even melted. That’s not a good sign at all. And after our first bite we definitely felt that the patties should have been smashed much thinner, as they were so thick that the hamburger itself became disproportionally high and difficult to eat. Thankfully the beef tasted really nice and the burger itself was very juicy. Aside from the unmelted cheese, the burger sauce tasted far too sweet, and the bacon slices were a bit soft. Both the lettuce and tomato did their job, and the nicely toasted brioche bun held together well at least.

In terms of taste, our burger from Allégrillen was pretty decent, but it cost far too much for it to have this many mistakes. Sure, the service was nice and friendly, and that might be one of the reasons that they’ve got so many regular customers. But unfortunately the actual burgers left far too much to be desired for us to give them a passing grade.

She Burger is a restaurant chain with several locations in Dubai and around the Middle East, and they participated in the Dubai Burger Championship 2026. The burger they served at the festival was the same name as the restaurant, She Burger, and it consisted of two smashed beef patties, roasted onions, veal bacon jam with a lot of coffee, and their signature sauce for 60 AED (16.5 USD).

We immediately felt that the burger had a very international appearance when we saw it, and it offered a well-shaped brioche bun, plenty of toppings, double meat patties. The bun was soft and had a good size, but the heel would have been able to handle the beef juices better if they’d let the patties rest before assembly. The Black Angus meat had a strong meat flavour with a robust seasoning, but we felt that the crust should have been more pronounced and that the meat could have been even juicier. The fried onion was texturally brilliant, and it added both flavour and a lovely crunch that the burger really needed. The veal bacon jam was incredibly good and had a much more mature taste than we are normally used to. It was very coffee heavy, which we really appreciated. On the other hand, the signature sauce was completely anonymous and didn’t make any real impression.

She Burger do a lot right with this burger, but they need to refine the details and the meat to really make it a winner. But that being said, they offer one of the better burgers in Dubai.

Thellas is a food truck in Gävle that we’ve heard a lot of positive things about since they opened in 2024. The menu at the time of our visit consisted of four beef burgers and a vegetarian option. We chose the classic ”Thellas Cheese” cheeseburger with double burger cheese, silver onions, dill pickles, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. A single patty burger cost 115 SEK (12.5 USD), but we ordered a double 120-gram patty burger with for 145 SEK (15.5 USD) and also added 30 SEK (3 USD) for french fries and 15 SEK (1.5 USD) for a chili mayo.

There was a long line of people waiting for their food, and when the burger was served we were greeted by a well-composed and inviting cheeseburger. The first bite was incredibly flavourful and juicy, with a very clear crust on the patties. The beef was well-seasoned with a generous amount of coarsely ground black pepper. And the creamy cheese was delicious and nicely melted over the beef. Unfortunately, the bun was a bit of a disappointment, because despite looking good, it had been toasted for too long on the grill and lacked the fluffy texture we expect from a brioche bun. Their own-pickled cucumber was delicious and added both acidity and crunch, and we would have liked to see more of it so that it was spread over the entire burger. All the sauces did their job without standing out and were also in the right amount, without any one of them overpowering the others. We also liked the generous portion of crispy french fries, and the smoky chilli mayo was tasty – although it could have been a bit spicier.

Thellas undoubtedly serve one of the better burgers we’ve eaten in Gävle, and the service from the guys in the food truck was excellent as well. We definitely recommend keeping an eye on their schedule and visiting them if you’re in the area.
