In English

Django Gastro Bar is a restaurant in the north-east of Andorra. We were lucky enough to visit them when they participated in The Champions Burger festival in Barcelona, Spain. And at the festival they served a burger called Argenta, which contained 180 grams of Black Angus beef, provolone cheese, caramelised leeks and chimichurri. The festival price for the burger was 12.5 EUR (14 USD).

Our burger looked a bit flat and small, which was a bit odd considering it contained a fairly generous amount of meat. They cooked the meat by first grilling it, then adding the cheese and smoking it so that everything melted properly. And this really affected the flavour because it had distinct grilled and smoked notes. And although the meat could have been a little softer around the edges, it was very tasty and tender a couple of bites in. The brioche bun was soft and flavourful, but unfortunately completely untoasted which affected the texture, as we missed some crispness and would have liked it to absorb the beef juices a little better, The caramelised leek contributed some much appreciated sweetness and had a really nice texture, but it also added an aftertaste that we would have preferred to do without. Fortunately, this was greatly remedied by the flavourful chimichurri, which provided a heat and acidity that harmonised well with the other smoky flavours.

Django Gastro Bar serve an interesting and definitely acceptable burger, and we’ll be sure to pay them a proper visit if we find ourselves near Canillo in Andorra in need of a burger.

🍔 Review № 1397

🇺🇸 @localtide ★★★★☆

Local Tide is a hyped fish restaurant in central Seattle. And while most of the menu focuses on seafood, their burger has also become a bit of a talking point. They don’t take reservations, and when we arrived there were around 20 people queuing outside the small restaurant, with an hour-long wait. Luckily, there was space next door at Aslan Brewing, which served their burger and a handful of other dishes from Local Tide. We ordered their Smash Burger with beef, cheese, caramelised onions and mayo in a brioche bun for 10 USD, as well as a portion of Salt and Pepper Fries for 8 USD. We also tried their Salmon Sando for 16 USD.

After waiting around an hour for our food, our burger arrived neatly presented on a small plate. The bun looked a little flat but was lighter and fluffier than we’d expected. The beef was incredibly juicy and well salted, while the cheese was both creamy and flavourful. The caramelised onions were packed with umami and really enhanced the flavour of the beef. Both the bun and beef had a decent crust, although both could’ve been cooked a little more. Our main critique was that the burger would’ve been even better with a few more crispy components, and perhaps a bit bigger. The fries were like potato wedges and were incredibly well cooked. The generous portion was crispy and well seasoned, and their homemade ketchup was really tasty. The 16 USD salmon burger also impressed us with its fresh salmon fillet, great textures and fresh flavours.

It’s great to see a seafood restaurant serving burgers as good as the ones at Local Tide. The other seafood dishes are of course also worth trying, but make sure to arrive early and be prepared to wait a while for your food.
