Youtube-videoDirty Bones öppnade sin första restaurang redan 2014, och har idag restauranger i både London och Oxford. De säger själva att konceptet har tagit inspiration från stämningen i Brooklyn och att detta genomsyrar allt från maten och den rejäla cocktailmenyn till musiken. De har två olika köttburgare på menyn, och vi beställde den mer extravaganta av dem, nämligen The Mac Daddy med två hängmörade köttpuckar toppade med pulled beef, mac & cheese och espressosmaksatt barbecuesås för 13,5 GBP (175 kronor). Till detta beställde vi även in Cheeseburger Dumplings, som kostade 9 GBP (115 kronor) för fem stycken.
Burgaren såg precis ut som vi hade förväntat oss, och var ett köttmonster där ingredienserna bokstavligt vällde ut över tallriken. Brödet var härligt fluffigt, men vi såg direkt att det att bottenbrödet började bli uppblött på grund av den svaga rostningen. Första tuggan var mycket lovande, och kombinationen med barbecue-såsen, mac & cheese och pulled beef var harmonisk, med en fin krämighet, köttsmak och kryddighet. Själva köttpuckarna föll tyvärr lite för mycket i skymundan och hade svårt att komma till sin rätt bland de mer framträdande smakerna. Efter några tuggor blev dessutom allt lite för mjukt och smakbilden blev aningen för söt. Vi hade gärna sett lite mer hetta eller syra för att bryta av det söta och balansera ut smakerna. Det var dock gott och väldigt smakrikt, och vi vill dessutom varmt rekommendera deras otroligt smarriga och roliga Cheeseburger Dumplings som faktiskt blev måltidens höjdpunkt.
Dirty Bones har en riktigt skön stämning som vi verkligen gillar, och även om vi inte föll helt pladask för deras burgare så är de definitivt värda ett besök. Hit går du om du är sugen på lite lättsamt häng, ett par schyssta drinkar och ett rejält burgarmonster som mättar även hungriga storätare.

Dirty Bones opened their first restaurant back in 2014, and now have locations in both London and Oxford. Their concept is inspired by the atmosphere in Brooklyn, and this can be found in everything from the food and the music to their large cocktail. They have two beef burgers on the menu, and we ordered the more extravagant one; The Mac Daddy with two dry-aged beef patties topped with pulled beef, mac & cheese and an espresso barbecue sauce for 13.5 GBP (16.5 USD). We also ordered the Cheeseburger Dumplings, which cost 9 GBP (10.5 USD) for five dumplings and a dipping sauce.
The burger looked exactly as we had expected; a huge beefy beast with ingredients falling out onto the plate. The bread was delightfully fluffy, but we could see immediately that the heel was getting soggy as it hadn’t been toasted properly. Our first bite was very promising, and the combination with the barbecue sauce, mac & cheese and pulled beef was harmonious, with a nice creaminess, seasoning and a deep meatiness. However, the patties had problems standing out against all of the other ingredients. And after a few bites, everything became a little too soft and sweet. We would have liked a little more heat or acidity to break up the sweetness and balance out the flavours. But overall our burger was still tasty, and we highly recommend their incredibly yummy and fun Cheeseburger Dumplings, which actually turned out to be the highlight of our meal.
Dirty Bones have a really nice atmosphere that we really enjoyed, and even though we didn’t fall head over heels for their burgers, they’re definitely worth a visit if you want to hang out with friends, order some fun cocktails and a huge burger that will satisfy the hungriest of burger lovers.
