In English

Burger Now opened their first burger kiosk in Berlin back in 2014, and since then they’ve opened up a second location in Germany’s capital city. Their menu proudly announces their high ambitions, with fresh beef ground daily and sourced from a local butcher, and freshly baked buns from a nearby bakery. The burgers are grilled over lava stones too, apparently. The customer chooses his or her own burger, and we ordered a burger with cheddar, lettuce, onions, pickles, mayo and ketchup for 6.5 EUR (7.5 USD).

The burger came served in a nice bun, covered with a sprinkle of sesame seeds. And even though we felt a bit sceptical towards the skewer that ran through the burger, everything else looked pretty promising. But there were more problems to be had. The patty may have been made from high quality beef, but it had been grilled too hard and had a burnt aftertaste. But at least it had a decent crust and was nicely seasoned. The bun tasted alright and was fresh, but the bottom bun was far too thick and got a bit chewy. The vegetables were really cold, and they had covered the burger with both mayo and ketchup, making these two condiments took over completely.

We’re sure that Burger Now has the potential to serve a decent burger, but they made far too many mistakes for us to be able to recommend them the next time you’re in Berlin.

🍔 Review № 1381

Black Bear Burger is one of the veterans of the modern burger wave in England, and we have tried their burgers several times since our first review in 2017. Over the years, Black Bear Burger has received more and more attention and hype, both domestically and internationally, and today they are one of the most well-known burger restaurants in all of England. They have locations at nearly 10 places around London, and we visited their restaurant inside the Market Halls Victoria food hall and ordered their Double Miso Bacon Burger – the same burger that won them the National Burger of the Year 2025 award. The burger contained double patties, double cheese, smoked bacon and their miso butter mayo, and it cost 15.8 GBP (21 USD).

The burger looked exactly as we remembered it, with pre-formed patties and a pale bun covered in a generous layer of sesame seeds. The bun was soft and fluffy, but just like on our previous visits, we felt that the crust-like amount of sesame seeds took over both in terms of flavour and texture. The meat was of high quality as always and had a nice and potent dry-aged character that they are known for. The meat could have been juicier though, as it felt a bit too compact this time. The bacon was super tasty and crispy, just the way we like it, and the onion also contributed a nice texture. Their miso butter mayo was very flavourful with its buttery, salty, and umami-rich taste, but together with the bacon and the beef, the overall flavour profile was a bit too salty. We would have liked to see some kind of freshness to break up the saltiness for a more complete experience.

We are very happy that a veteran like Black Bear Burger continues to deliver high-quality burgers year after year, and they are still a safe bet when you are craving a really good burger in London.
