The Ranch Smokehouse är en familjeägd BBQ-restaurang i centrala Barcelona som öppnade 2019. Vi testade dem på den spanska burgarfestivalen The Champions Burger i Barcelona, där de i slutändan placerade sig på en hedersvärd tredjeplats. Deras festivalburgare All Star Franklin innehöll 90 dagars hängmörat kött, cheddar, karamelliserat bacon, brisket som rökts i 24 timmar, BBQ-stekt lök, baconsylt och en Franklin-sås för 12,50 euro (140 kronor) på festivalen. Det var en överdådig skapelse som de numera även serverar på sin fasta restaurang.

Hamburgaren lät så dekadent att vi blev lite förvånande av hur normal den faktiskt såg ut när den serverades. Vi fick den halverad och lite hoptryckt. Men när vi lyfte upp den kunde vi se att de verkligen inte snålat med ingredienserna. Första tuggan bjöd på en välbalanserad sälta och en ganska tung och tydlig köttsmak från hängmörningen, men köttet hölls tillbaka av att det var lite överarbetat och tuggigt i texturen. Brödet höll ihop under måltiden och var ganska bastant. Trots att de hade skrivit amerikansk cheddar på menyn så var inte detta någon krämig burgarost, vilket vi hade uppskattat. Det karamelliserade baconet, baconsylten, brisketen, och löken bjöd alla på intensivt söta, salta och rökiga smaker, och även om de var riktigt goda så blev det några ingredienser för mycket.

The Ranch Smokehouse burgare var rejält saftiga och kladdiga, och det var främst bristen på balans i kompositionen som höll dem tillbaka. Det här var överlag en väldigt god och rolig hamburgare, och vi ser fram emot att besöka deras restaurang i Barcelona i framtiden.

The Ranch Smokehouse is a family-run BBQ restaurant in central Barcelona that opened in 2019. We visited them at the Spanish burger festival The Champions Burger in Barcelona, where they ended up taking an honourable third place. Their festival burger, the All Star Franklin, featured 90 days of dry-aged beef, cheddar, caramelised bacon, 24-hour smoked brisket, BBQ-fried onions, bacon jam and a Franklin sauce for 12.50 EUR (13.5 USD) at the festival. It was a lavish creation that they now also serve at their regular restaurant.

The burger sounded so decadent that we were a little surprised by how normal it actually looked when it arrived. We got it cut in half and slightly squashed. But when we lifted it up, we could see that they hadn’t skimped on the ingredients. The first bite offered a well-balanced saltiness and a rather heavy and distinct dry-aged funkiness from the beef, but it was held back by being a bit overworked and chewy in texture. The bun held together throughout the meal and was quite sturdy. Despite having American cheddar on the menu, this was not a creamy burger cheese, which we would have preferred. The caramelised bacon, bacon jam, brisket, and onions all offered intensely sweet, salty, and smoky flavours, but despite being very tasty, there were a few ingredients too many.

The Ranch Smokehouse’s burgers were juicy and messy, and it was mainly the lack of balance in the composition that held them back. Overall, this was a very tasty and fun hamburger, and we look forward to visiting their restaurant in Barcelona in the future.

She Burger is a restaurant chain with several locations in Dubai and around the Middle East, and they participated in the Dubai Burger Championship 2026. The burger they served at the festival was the same name as the restaurant, She Burger, and it consisted of two smashed beef patties, roasted onions, veal bacon jam with a lot of coffee, and their signature sauce for 60 AED (16.5 USD).

We immediately felt that the burger had a very international appearance when we saw it, and it offered a well-shaped brioche bun, plenty of toppings, double meat patties. The bun was soft and had a good size, but the heel would have been able to handle the beef juices better if they’d let the patties rest before assembly. The Black Angus meat had a strong meat flavour with a robust seasoning, but we felt that the crust should have been more pronounced and that the meat could have been even juicier. The fried onion was texturally brilliant, and it added both flavour and a lovely crunch that the burger really needed. The veal bacon jam was incredibly good and had a much more mature taste than we are normally used to. It was very coffee heavy, which we really appreciated. On the other hand, the signature sauce was completely anonymous and didn’t make any real impression.

She Burger do a lot right with this burger, but they need to refine the details and the meat to really make it a winner. But that being said, they offer one of the better burgers in Dubai.
