Milwaukee Burger

In English

Milwaukee Burger in Madrid was started by a few friends who wanted to pay tribute to the famous Wisconsin Butter Burger, which we at Burgerdudes are big fans of. So we couldn’t miss them when we were in the Spanish capital. The restaurant was packed, so we simply chose to eat the burgers right outside the restaurant itself. The menu was very short and concise with only three burgers, and we ordered two of them – a double Cheeseburger with cheddar, Milwaukee sauce, pickles and onions for 11 EUR (12 USD) and the similar double Milwaukee Burger that also included crispy bacon and a knob of butter for 12 EUR (13 USD). We also ordered french fries with a dipping sauce for 3.50 EUR (4 USD).

The burgers came tightly wrapped in paper and looked rather compressed once we managed to unravel them. But we were still pleasantly surprised when we took our first bite. Everything was a little too soft, but the meat had a nice crust and tasted really good. The cheese was super creamy and tasty, and we were completely sold on their acidic and crispy pickles. The Milwaukee Burger was the superior choice of the two, as the crispy bacon added just the right amount of crunch and the hefty dollop of butter maxed out the flavours. However, we would have liked to see many more textures in the otherwise soft cheeseburger. The fries were well-cooked and we liked the tangy dipping sauce as well.

Milwaukee Burger serve impressive hamburgers, but we would have liked a bit more attention to the burger’s textures and presentation to win us over. But we’ll definitely visit them again for a buttery bacon burger in the future, and so should you!

🍔 Review № 1397

🇺🇸 @localtide ★★★★☆

Local Tide is a hyped fish restaurant in central Seattle. And while most of the menu focuses on seafood, their burger has also become a bit of a talking point. They don’t take reservations, and when we arrived there were around 20 people queuing outside the small restaurant, with an hour-long wait. Luckily, there was space next door at Aslan Brewing, which served their burger and a handful of other dishes from Local Tide. We ordered their Smash Burger with beef, cheese, caramelised onions and mayo in a brioche bun for 10 USD, as well as a portion of Salt and Pepper Fries for 8 USD. We also tried their Salmon Sando for 16 USD.

After waiting around an hour for our food, our burger arrived neatly presented on a small plate. The bun looked a little flat but was lighter and fluffier than we’d expected. The beef was incredibly juicy and well salted, while the cheese was both creamy and flavourful. The caramelised onions were packed with umami and really enhanced the flavour of the beef. Both the bun and beef had a decent crust, although both could’ve been cooked a little more. Our main critique was that the burger would’ve been even better with a few more crispy components, and perhaps a bit bigger. The fries were like potato wedges and were incredibly well cooked. The generous portion was crispy and well seasoned, and their homemade ketchup was really tasty. The 16 USD salmon burger also impressed us with its fresh salmon fillet, great textures and fresh flavours.

It’s great to see a seafood restaurant serving burgers as good as the ones at Local Tide. The other seafood dishes are of course also worth trying, but make sure to arrive early and be prepared to wait a while for your food.
