Burger Space

In English

Burger Space opened by Jordbrorondellen on the outskirts of central Jönköping in 2020, in an old Sibylla grill kiosk. The venue is cheerfully decorated in a space theme, and the huge menu contains burgers named after planets, with 12 different meat burgers. We ordered the Mars cheeseburger with two 120-gram beef patties, burger cheese, onions, pickles, mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard, and a Venus chili burger with two 120-gram beef patties, burger cheese, bacon, jalapeños, tomato, lettuce and a chilli mayo. The burgers cost 139 SEK (12.5 USD) each, including french fries.

Our burgers looked a bit like small planets when they arrived, as the bun was large and round with a high heel. At least the bun held together well, and was reasonably soft. The patties looked like they had a nice crust, but they were mostly soft with a slightly grainy texture. The Mars burger worked best of the two in terms of flavour, but it was also filled with old grill kiosk details such as sandwich pickles, classic mustard and rather thick red onion slices that reminded us of a the time before craft burgers arrived in Sweden. But there was a lot of everything, and overall it was still pretty decent. The Venus burger’s very spicy chilli mayo stood out in the wrong way, with distinctly oily and cayenne pepper heavy flavours. Lots of jalapeños also helped raise the heat to an aggressive level. The bacon was unfortunately undercooked, making it soft and chewy. Our fries were okay in terms of flavour, but could have used a little more time in the fryer.

Burger Space serve decent grill kiosk burgers at a reasonable price. As craft burgers, there is of course a lot of room for improvement, but we still understand why they are a popular part of Jönköping’s burger scene.

🍔 Review № 1381

Black Bear Burger is one of the veterans of the modern burger wave in England, and we have tried their burgers several times since our first review in 2017. Over the years, Black Bear Burger has received more and more attention and hype, both domestically and internationally, and today they are one of the most well-known burger restaurants in all of England. They have locations at nearly 10 places around London, and we visited their restaurant inside the Market Halls Victoria food hall and ordered their Double Miso Bacon Burger – the same burger that won them the National Burger of the Year 2025 award. The burger contained double patties, double cheese, smoked bacon and their miso butter mayo, and it cost 15.8 GBP (21 USD).

The burger looked exactly as we remembered it, with pre-formed patties and a pale bun covered in a generous layer of sesame seeds. The bun was soft and fluffy, but just like on our previous visits, we felt that the crust-like amount of sesame seeds took over both in terms of flavour and texture. The meat was of high quality as always and had a nice and potent dry-aged character that they are known for. The meat could have been juicier though, as it felt a bit too compact this time. The bacon was super tasty and crispy, just the way we like it, and the onion also contributed a nice texture. Their miso butter mayo was very flavourful with its buttery, salty, and umami-rich taste, but together with the bacon and the beef, the overall flavour profile was a bit too salty. We would have liked to see some kind of freshness to break up the saltiness for a more complete experience.

We are very happy that a veteran like Black Bear Burger continues to deliver high-quality burgers year after year, and they are still a safe bet when you are craving a really good burger in London.
