In English

We’ve been hearing about the burgers at Biobaren in Karlskrona ever since we started Burgerdudes, but we haven’t managed to visit the old shipyard town until now. Located in the foyer of the town’s cinema, the restaurant is charmingly decorated with film memorabilia. The lengthy menu focuses on craft beers and burgers, and we ordered a double The Classic Cheeseburger with cheddar, pickles, white onions, ketchup and mustard for 205 SEK (19.5 USD) and a double Triple Cheese N Chorizo with three cheeses, tomato, pickles, white onions and a chorizo mayo for 239 SEK (23 USD). French fries and a garlic dip were included in the price.

Both burgers came pierced by a cocktail stick, and offered two rather different looks. The Triple Cheese N Chorizo was quite pale and covered with dripping cheese, while our classic cheeseburger featured both melted and unmelted cheese. The 120-grams beef patties from Swedish chuck, brisket and tallow mainly had a crust on one side, and were very soft and almost slightly fluffy in texture. The meat was really flavourful, juicy and excellently seasoned – and the major highlight of both burgers. However, much of the flavour was taken over by their overly acidic pickles, which was a shame as we really liked the other flavour combinations. The chorizo mayo in particular was very tasty and interesting, and we would have much preferred to see it take a more central role. The fries were tasty and excellently cooked, and the accompanying garlic dip was really fresh, making it hard to stop eating it.

Biobaren offers a super nice atmosphere and really filling hamburgers. The burgers were pretty good, but we were still surprised that they made as many rookie mistakes as they did, considering that they actually are real veterans on the Swedish burger scene.

🍔 Review № 1381

Black Bear Burger is one of the veterans of the modern burger wave in England, and we have tried their burgers several times since our first review in 2017. Over the years, Black Bear Burger has received more and more attention and hype, both domestically and internationally, and today they are one of the most well-known burger restaurants in all of England. They have locations at nearly 10 places around London, and we visited their restaurant inside the Market Halls Victoria food hall and ordered their Double Miso Bacon Burger – the same burger that won them the National Burger of the Year 2025 award. The burger contained double patties, double cheese, smoked bacon and their miso butter mayo, and it cost 15.8 GBP (21 USD).

The burger looked exactly as we remembered it, with pre-formed patties and a pale bun covered in a generous layer of sesame seeds. The bun was soft and fluffy, but just like on our previous visits, we felt that the crust-like amount of sesame seeds took over both in terms of flavour and texture. The meat was of high quality as always and had a nice and potent dry-aged character that they are known for. The meat could have been juicier though, as it felt a bit too compact this time. The bacon was super tasty and crispy, just the way we like it, and the onion also contributed a nice texture. Their miso butter mayo was very flavourful with its buttery, salty, and umami-rich taste, but together with the bacon and the beef, the overall flavour profile was a bit too salty. We would have liked to see some kind of freshness to break up the saltiness for a more complete experience.

We are very happy that a veteran like Black Bear Burger continues to deliver high-quality burgers year after year, and they are still a safe bet when you are craving a really good burger in London.
