In English

Queen’s Burger is located in Vasa Handelsplats on the outskirts of Södertälje. The restaurant looks like a pretty classic roadside eatery from the outside, and the decor is inspired by American 50s diners with a red and white interior and both a petrol pump and a full-sized Elvis figure among the decorations. We’ve received several reader tips about them, and took the opportunity to pay a visit when we were passing by. Their menu was extensive, but we tried to find something simple and classic and chose a double Melting Cheese Burger. It contained two 113-gram patties, melted cheese, fried onions, lettuce, tomato and mayo. A menu with a soft drink and fries cost 159 SEK (15 USD).

Our burger looked quite strange when it arrived, as it was very tall with lots of iceberg lettuce. The completely round patties had been drizzled with cheese sauce in a rather unappetising way. The bun was large and sweet, but toasted on the inside and held the burger together well. The chuck in the patties had probably been frozen, but at least it tasted better than it looked with a decent amount of saltiness and juiciness. The cheese sauce reminded us of cheddar cheese in flavour, but it also had a slight chemical aftertaste and a slight acidity that felt out of place. The onions were more caramelised than fried, and they hadn’t warmed them in any way. Iceberg lettuce can have its place on a good burger, but here there was so much that it ruined both the flavour and texture. We liked their XL fries – a kind of long potato wedge with a generous crunch and a lot of seasoning.

As a grill kiosk burger, this was pretty decent, but it was far from a great craft burger. And considering that there are actually quite a few good burger places in Södertälje nowadays, we recommend that you treat yourself to something better.

🍔 Review № 1381

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 @black_bear_burger ★★★★☆

Black Bear Burger is one of the veterans of the modern burger wave in England, and we have tried their burgers several times since our first review in 2017. Over the years, Black Bear Burger has received more and more attention and hype, both domestically and internationally, and today they are one of the most well-known burger restaurants in all of England. They have locations at nearly 10 places around London, and we visited their restaurant inside the Market Halls Victoria food hall and ordered their Double Miso Bacon Burger – the same burger that won them the National Burger of the Year 2025 award. The burger contained double patties, double cheese, smoked bacon and their miso butter mayo, and it cost 15.8 GBP (21 USD).

The burger looked exactly as we remembered it, with pre-formed patties and a pale bun covered in a generous layer of sesame seeds. The bun was soft and fluffy, but just like on our previous visits, we felt that the crust-like amount of sesame seeds took over both in terms of flavour and texture. The meat was of high quality as always and had a nice and potent dry-aged character that they are known for. The meat could have been juicier though, as it felt a bit too compact this time. The bacon was super tasty and crispy, just the way we like it, and the onion also contributed a nice texture. Their miso butter mayo was very flavourful with its buttery, salty, and umami-rich taste, but together with the bacon and the beef, the overall flavour profile was a bit too salty. We would have liked to see some kind of freshness to break up the saltiness for a more complete experience.

We are very happy that a veteran like Black Bear Burger continues to deliver high-quality burgers year after year, and they are still a safe bet when you are craving a really good burger in London.
