Happie Hands öppnade under våren 2022 i Gullmarsplan i södra Stockholm, en kort promenad från tunnelbanan och bussterminalen. Där serverar de en handfull olika burgare och tacos. Själva lokalen är ganska liten, men utanför ryms en väl tilltagen uteservering i söderläge med mycket sol. Deras lanseringsmeny var något begränsad och vi hade gärna sett en lite mer traditionell cheeseburgare, men fick höra från ägaren att en sådan var på väg inom kort. Vi besökte dem på lunchen och då erbjöd de ändå en originalburgare med cheddar, krispsallad, tomat, silverlök, pickles och burgardressing, plus mixed fries och läsk för 109 kronor. Eftersom den bara innehöll 100 gram kött så uppgraderade vi den till en dubbelburgare, trots att det kostade hela 39 kronor extra.
När vår burgare serverades så såg den riktigt lovande ut, och det som stack ut mest var det glänsande brödet och den rejäla stekytan på köttet. Och det var dessa två saker som utgjorde måltidens höjdpunkt, för köttpuckarna hade en otroligt fin crust och var välkryddat, saftigt och kändes väldigt lätt och inte ett dugg kompakt. Brödet som kom från ett mindre bageri var ordentligt uppvärmt på insidan och saftigt, med en sötaktig ton. Men just sötman tog över något, då hamburgerdressingen också var lite väl söt för vår smak. Men som helhet var det väldigt gott, trots att det var många smaker som försökte samsas. Vi uppskattade dock inte deras längdskurna pickles, som var lite för kryddiga och hade för lite knaprighet, syra och dillsmak.
Happie Hands har fått en bra start, men det finns fortfarande en del att slipa på, både kvalitets- och prismässigt. Men potentialen är tydlig, mycket tack vare att köttet och brödet har hanterats alldeles utmärkt. De serverar redan Gullmarsplans bästa burgare, och vi ser fram emot att följa deras utveckling.

Happie Hands opened in the spring of 2022 in Gullmarsplan, just south of central Stockholm. They’re located a short walk from the subway station and bus terminal, and serve a handful of burger and taco dishes. The restaurant itself is quite small, but they have a spacious and sunny outdoor area. Their opening menu was quite limited and we would have liked a traditional cheeseburger, but the owner assured us that one was on its way shortly. We visited them during lunch hours, during which they offered an Original Burger with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, white onions, pickles and a burger sauce, plus mixed fries and a soft drink for 109 SEK (11 USD). Seeing as this only included one 100-gram beef patty we upgraded to a double burger, even though this cost a whopping 39 SEK (4 USD) extra.
When our burgers arrived they looked really promising, and the two most distinguishing features were the shiny bun and the deep crust on the patties. And these two components really were the highlight of our meal, as the patties had an amazing crust and a decent amount of seasoning. The beef was juicy, and not at all compact, and the bun from a small bakery was fresh, well-toasted and a bit sweet. But the sweetness took over a bit, seeing as the burger sauce also was rather sweet. But as a whole the burger was very tasty, even though there were a lot of flavours competing for our attention. The only thing we didn’t like was their long pickles, which were a bit too herby and lacked the acidity, crispness and dill flavour we’d expected.
Happie Hands are off to a great start, but there are still a few things that they need to get right, both quality and price wise. But we really do see the potential here as they’ve really nailed the beef and bun parts already. They already serve the best burgers in the Gullmarsplan area, and we look forward to following their journey.
