Vau De Ville

In English

Vau De Ville is a restaurant located on Norrmalmstorg in central Stockholm. They have great service, and a menu that takes inspiration from the entire world. And seeing as the prices match their ambition, our expectations were set pretty high when we paid them a lunch time visit. Vau De Ville’s cheese burger contains cheddar, pickles, white onions, tomato, lettuce, truffle mayo and mustard, and together with a portion of fries, some coleslaw and a truffle mayo dip our meal cost 175 SEK (18 USD). We ordered our burger medium after their recommendation, and it looked pretty promising, despite being served on its side (which made the ”bottom” part a bit soggy).

The bun had a nice texture and held together nicely, and tasted great as well. But despite our wishes, the patty was well done. Thankfully it had a nice char and was still pretty juicy on the inside. The flavours were really classic, focusing on the yellow mustard, cheese, onions and pickles, and we appreciated the crisp vegetables. The truffle mayo added a nice aroma without being overpowering, which we appreciated seeing as it often can take over. Unfortunately the mustard was a bit overbearing, to the extent that we had problems tasting the meat.

We liked the crispy and crunchy fries, but the portion was relatively small. The coleslaw was the real outlier though, with a distinct citrus and spicyness (that unfortunately wasn’t to our taste).

Quality wise, Vau De Ville are better than most regular restaurants near by, but there are several burger joints just a short walk from here. But if the price-point doesn’t deter you and you’re in the mood for a decent cheeseburger in a restaurant setting, then we can definetely recommend a visit.

🍔 Review № 1381

Black Bear Burger is one of the veterans of the modern burger wave in England, and we have tried their burgers several times since our first review in 2017. Over the years, Black Bear Burger has received more and more attention and hype, both domestically and internationally, and today they are one of the most well-known burger restaurants in all of England. They have locations at nearly 10 places around London, and we visited their restaurant inside the Market Halls Victoria food hall and ordered their Double Miso Bacon Burger – the same burger that won them the National Burger of the Year 2025 award. The burger contained double patties, double cheese, smoked bacon and their miso butter mayo, and it cost 15.8 GBP (21 USD).

The burger looked exactly as we remembered it, with pre-formed patties and a pale bun covered in a generous layer of sesame seeds. The bun was soft and fluffy, but just like on our previous visits, we felt that the crust-like amount of sesame seeds took over both in terms of flavour and texture. The meat was of high quality as always and had a nice and potent dry-aged character that they are known for. The meat could have been juicier though, as it felt a bit too compact this time. The bacon was super tasty and crispy, just the way we like it, and the onion also contributed a nice texture. Their miso butter mayo was very flavourful with its buttery, salty, and umami-rich taste, but together with the bacon and the beef, the overall flavour profile was a bit too salty. We would have liked to see some kind of freshness to break up the saltiness for a more complete experience.

We are very happy that a veteran like Black Bear Burger continues to deliver high-quality burgers year after year, and they are still a safe bet when you are craving a really good burger in London.
