Mer en nätrullare än en riktig winner

Vista Bistro

Vista Padel is located in Vistaberg, in between the Stockholm suburbs Huddinge and Flemingsberg. The sports facility fits three padel courts and a small restaurant called Vista Bistro, which has a short but sweet menu with a handful of different burgers that can be ordered with beef patties or halloumi. We visited them during their lunch hours and ordered a Double Cheeseburger with two mustard-fried 100-gram beef patties, ”a lot of cheese”, pickles and mayo in a mayo fried bun. It cost 154 SEK (15 USD) including french fries and a soft drink, plus some pickle spears on the side.

Our burger arrived with a cool and laid-back appearance, and the beef patties were smashed super thinly. We were impressed with the deep crust, but the bun was a bit of a let-down; with a spongy crown and quite a lot of flour left underneath the heel. The patties hadn’t rested after cooking and were painfully hot, but the crust was great and just on the right side of being deep-fried. The beef tasted really nice, and fit perfectly with the flavoursome and melted cheese – which also packed a satisfyingly crunchy punch where it had touched the griddle. But the coarsely chopped pickles were overpoweringly salty, and they had also used too much mustard which also took over, giving the burger a slightly bitter taste. The bun couldn’t handle all the beef juices either, and started falling apart very quickly. It had the same consistency as sponge cake towards the end of our meal. Our french fries tasted nice and were worth the price, but the pickle spear was just as boring next to the burger as it was inside of it.

Vista Bistro serve a decent burger, and are well worth a visit if you’re nearby or have just played a game of padel. But they still need to work on the details if they want to be a real winner.

🍔 Review № 1397

🇺🇸 @localtide ★★★★☆

Local Tide is a hyped fish restaurant in central Seattle. And while most of the menu focuses on seafood, their burger has also become a bit of a talking point. They don’t take reservations, and when we arrived there were around 20 people queuing outside the small restaurant, with an hour-long wait. Luckily, there was space next door at Aslan Brewing, which served their burger and a handful of other dishes from Local Tide. We ordered their Smash Burger with beef, cheese, caramelised onions and mayo in a brioche bun for 10 USD, as well as a portion of Salt and Pepper Fries for 8 USD. We also tried their Salmon Sando for 16 USD.

After waiting around an hour for our food, our burger arrived neatly presented on a small plate. The bun looked a little flat but was lighter and fluffier than we’d expected. The beef was incredibly juicy and well salted, while the cheese was both creamy and flavourful. The caramelised onions were packed with umami and really enhanced the flavour of the beef. Both the bun and beef had a decent crust, although both could’ve been cooked a little more. Our main critique was that the burger would’ve been even better with a few more crispy components, and perhaps a bit bigger. The fries were like potato wedges and were incredibly well cooked. The generous portion was crispy and well seasoned, and their homemade ketchup was really tasty. The 16 USD salmon burger also impressed us with its fresh salmon fillet, great textures and fresh flavours.

It’s great to see a seafood restaurant serving burgers as good as the ones at Local Tide. The other seafood dishes are of course also worth trying, but make sure to arrive early and be prepared to wait a while for your food.
