In English

Zup Burger have food trucks in both Varberg, Halmstad and Falkenberg, and we’re received loads of tips about over the past year. We passed by Varberg recently and couldn’t miss the chance to try them out. On the menu we found six different burgers that cost 99 SEK (9.5 USD) each with a 120-gram beef patty. All burgers could also be ordered with halloumi or a vegan soy patty. Our choice was the Smash 2.0 with beef, cheddar, bacon, white onions, ketchup, mustard and a dijon mayo.

It wasn’t long before we got our burger, and apart from being rather sloppily assembled, it looked okay. After our first bite we noticed that the patty had the lovely yet unusual combination of a deep crust while still being juicy and slightly pink on  the inside. We really appreciated the deep and intense beefiness, but it would have been elevated with a little more salt and pepper. The cheddar cheese was creamy and created a nice balance with their house pickles and dijon mayo. Our favourite component of the burger was their tasty bacon, which was perfectly crispy. Unfortunately, we got a little too much ketchup, which made the burger a bit too sweet and sloppy. The bun was okay without being outstanding, and made the best of the situation. It was exemplary toasted though, and held together relatively well. But we would have preferred a fluffier bun for this kind of burger.

Zup Burger serve the best burger we have had so far in Varberg, and are definitely worth a visit!

🍔 Review № 1381

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 @black_bear_burger ★★★★☆

Black Bear Burger is one of the veterans of the modern burger wave in England, and we have tried their burgers several times since our first review in 2017. Over the years, Black Bear Burger has received more and more attention and hype, both domestically and internationally, and today they are one of the most well-known burger restaurants in all of England. They have locations at nearly 10 places around London, and we visited their restaurant inside the Market Halls Victoria food hall and ordered their Double Miso Bacon Burger – the same burger that won them the National Burger of the Year 2025 award. The burger contained double patties, double cheese, smoked bacon and their miso butter mayo, and it cost 15.8 GBP (21 USD).

The burger looked exactly as we remembered it, with pre-formed patties and a pale bun covered in a generous layer of sesame seeds. The bun was soft and fluffy, but just like on our previous visits, we felt that the crust-like amount of sesame seeds took over both in terms of flavour and texture. The meat was of high quality as always and had a nice and potent dry-aged character that they are known for. The meat could have been juicier though, as it felt a bit too compact this time. The bacon was super tasty and crispy, just the way we like it, and the onion also contributed a nice texture. Their miso butter mayo was very flavourful with its buttery, salty, and umami-rich taste, but together with the bacon and the beef, the overall flavour profile was a bit too salty. We would have liked to see some kind of freshness to break up the saltiness for a more complete experience.

We are very happy that a veteran like Black Bear Burger continues to deliver high-quality burgers year after year, and they are still a safe bet when you are craving a really good burger in London.
