Burger Devil

In English

Burger Devil can be found in Bäckby on the outskirts of Västerås, and we have received many tips about them in recent years. The restaurant reminded us of a large and modern grill kiosk, and we appreciated the modern interiors and the personal touch with wall paintings. We ordered two burgers; a double Cheeseburger with two 120-gram beef patties, cheddar, red onions, pickles, ketchup, yellow mustard and mayo and a Chili Heaven with the same amount of meat and cheese, as well as chili cheese, silver onions, garlic mayo and a spicy BBQ sauce. The burgers cost SEK 159 (14 USD) each, including fries, dip and a soft drink.

Our burgers arrived on simple wooden trays, and we were impressed by how well composed they were. They were balanced and thoughtfully put together, without skimping on anything. The bun felt good in our hands and had been nicely toasted to withstand the pressure of all the sauces without falling apart, and the meat’s thin and golden brown crust did its job. It was juicy and tasted great, but could have done with a little more salt and pepper to really elevate the flavours. Although the meat was a bit anonymous, the other ingredients made up for it with their distinct flavours. Chili Heaven offered some nice heat and pleasant textures that elevated the experience considerably. The Cheeseburger lacked that finesse though, and we wouldn’t have minded thicker pickles and onions to add some more texture. The fries tasted nice, but were slightly undercooked and didn’t stand out much.

Burger Devil serve really great burgers at an affordable price, and we can see why they’ve become so popular. They are definitely worth a little detour next time you are in or near Västerås.

🍔 Review № 1381

Black Bear Burger is one of the veterans of the modern burger wave in England, and we have tried their burgers several times since our first review in 2017. Over the years, Black Bear Burger has received more and more attention and hype, both domestically and internationally, and today they are one of the most well-known burger restaurants in all of England. They have locations at nearly 10 places around London, and we visited their restaurant inside the Market Halls Victoria food hall and ordered their Double Miso Bacon Burger – the same burger that won them the National Burger of the Year 2025 award. The burger contained double patties, double cheese, smoked bacon and their miso butter mayo, and it cost 15.8 GBP (21 USD).

The burger looked exactly as we remembered it, with pre-formed patties and a pale bun covered in a generous layer of sesame seeds. The bun was soft and fluffy, but just like on our previous visits, we felt that the crust-like amount of sesame seeds took over both in terms of flavour and texture. The meat was of high quality as always and had a nice and potent dry-aged character that they are known for. The meat could have been juicier though, as it felt a bit too compact this time. The bacon was super tasty and crispy, just the way we like it, and the onion also contributed a nice texture. Their miso butter mayo was very flavourful with its buttery, salty, and umami-rich taste, but together with the bacon and the beef, the overall flavour profile was a bit too salty. We would have liked to see some kind of freshness to break up the saltiness for a more complete experience.

We are very happy that a veteran like Black Bear Burger continues to deliver high-quality burgers year after year, and they are still a safe bet when you are craving a really good burger in London.
