Great Burger har stängt sin verksamhet.

Great Burger ligger i Erikslund Shoppingcentrum utanför Västerås stadskärna. En meny med läsk och pommes frites kostar under hundralappen, och vi beställde en ost- och baconburgare. Men låt er inte luras av bilderna i entrén och på väggarna för burgaren som serveras ser inte alls likadan ut.

Köttet var till exempel under all kritik, och bestod av en genomstekt och tråkig köttpuck som tidigare varit fryst. Den saknade visserligen inte smak, men själva smaken var tyvärr inte särskilt god. Tillbehören var desto bättre; med rumstempererad och fräsch sallad samt färska men något för tjockt skurna grönsaker. Osten var god och smakrik, men det kändes som att baconet hade stekts i förväg och sedan värmts på i efterhand. Barbecuesåsen var i alla fall söt och god, och var tillsammans med rödlöken det enda riktigt positiva med burgaren.

Durumbrödet av Frisco-typ var tyvärr alldeles för tungt, och de handskurna pommes fritesen såg tyvärr bättre ut än de smakade. Vi förväntar oss alltid nyfriterade pommes frites, men det vi fick var både nyfriterat krämiga och goda pommes frites blandat med kall och torr potatis.

Det är sorgligt att Great Burger sägs servera den bästa burgaren i området, för Erikslund förtjänar bättre än det här!

Great Burger in the Erikslund shopping mall in the Swedish town Västerås serve a burger that’s far from great. The patty is overcooked and has been frozen, and the bun is tasteless and far too heavy. The only good things were the BBQ sauce, the cheese and the crispy red onion, which is a real disappointment seeing as none of these are essential components.

Thellas is a food truck in Gävle that we’ve heard a lot of positive things about since they opened in 2024. The menu at the time of our visit consisted of four beef burgers and a vegetarian option. We chose the classic ”Thellas Cheese” cheeseburger with double burger cheese, silver onions, dill pickles, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. A single patty burger cost 115 SEK (12.5 USD), but we ordered a double 120-gram patty burger with for 145 SEK (15.5 USD) and also added 30 SEK (3 USD) for french fries and 15 SEK (1.5 USD) for a chili mayo.

There was a long line of people waiting for their food, and when the burger was served we were greeted by a well-composed and inviting cheeseburger. The first bite was incredibly flavourful and juicy, with a very clear crust on the patties. The beef was well-seasoned with a generous amount of coarsely ground black pepper. And the creamy cheese was delicious and nicely melted over the beef. Unfortunately, the bun was a bit of a disappointment, because despite looking good, it had been toasted for too long on the grill and lacked the fluffy texture we expect from a brioche bun. Their own-pickled cucumber was delicious and added both acidity and crunch, and we would have liked to see more of it so that it was spread over the entire burger. All the sauces did their job without standing out and were also in the right amount, without any one of them overpowering the others. We also liked the generous portion of crispy french fries, and the smoky chilli mayo was tasty – although it could have been a bit spicier.

Thellas undoubtedly serve one of the better burgers we’ve eaten in Gävle, and the service from the guys in the food truck was excellent as well. We definitely recommend keeping an eye on their schedule and visiting them if you’re in the area.
