Dino’s

In English

Dino’s is East Nashville’s oldest dive bar, and we think that’s why the tips about this place have been trickling in. The entrance to the charming dive bar made us think the place closed 20 years ago, but inside there was an open kitchen and a staircase leading to a cosy outdoor terrace. The menu had a few different dishes, including two different burgers. We therefore ordered their rather well-known Dino’s Cheeseburger with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles for 8 USD.

It took a long time for our food to arrive, but we’re guessing this was because the entire outdoor seating area was full. Also, the beef patties were really thick, so this may also have contributed to the kitchen struggling a bit more. Still, our burger looked rather strange, with a pickle placed on top of the crown and speared with a cocktail stick. The meat was lightly pink, which we appreciated, but it was surprisingly dense – which was especially obvious with the thicker patty. The bun was also dry, as if it had been left out too long. The vegetables added a nice freshness and texture, but were slightly too cold. And the pickles on top of and inside the burger were very salty. If the beef had been much juicier we wouldn’t have noticed the lack of any kind of sauce as much either.

The atmosphere at Dino’s was great, and we’d love to pop by this bar again. But then we’ll probably stick to the beer – and possibly a grilled cheese if hunger strikes.

🍔 Review № 1381

Black Bear Burger is one of the veterans of the modern burger wave in England, and we have tried their burgers several times since our first review in 2017. Over the years, Black Bear Burger has received more and more attention and hype, both domestically and internationally, and today they are one of the most well-known burger restaurants in all of England. They have locations at nearly 10 places around London, and we visited their restaurant inside the Market Halls Victoria food hall and ordered their Double Miso Bacon Burger – the same burger that won them the National Burger of the Year 2025 award. The burger contained double patties, double cheese, smoked bacon and their miso butter mayo, and it cost 15.8 GBP (21 USD).

The burger looked exactly as we remembered it, with pre-formed patties and a pale bun covered in a generous layer of sesame seeds. The bun was soft and fluffy, but just like on our previous visits, we felt that the crust-like amount of sesame seeds took over both in terms of flavour and texture. The meat was of high quality as always and had a nice and potent dry-aged character that they are known for. The meat could have been juicier though, as it felt a bit too compact this time. The bacon was super tasty and crispy, just the way we like it, and the onion also contributed a nice texture. Their miso butter mayo was very flavourful with its buttery, salty, and umami-rich taste, but together with the bacon and the beef, the overall flavour profile was a bit too salty. We would have liked to see some kind of freshness to break up the saltiness for a more complete experience.

We are very happy that a veteran like Black Bear Burger continues to deliver high-quality burgers year after year, and they are still a safe bet when you are craving a really good burger in London.
