Vi besökte deras stora enhet i Belgrano, som var ett ombyggt flervåningshus med en stor uteterass. Menyn var ganska vidsträckt, och många av burgarna hade olika bröd. Valet föll till slut på en Double Royale with Cheese med två 120-gramsköttpuckar, fyra skivor ost, hackad lök och Royale-sås i ett briochebröd för 14300 ARS (120 kronor) och en Double Americana med två 120-gramsköttpuckar, fyra skivor ost, bacon, hackad lök, pickles, aioli och ketchup i ett potato bun för 15800 ARS (135 kronor). Vi köpte även till pommes frites för 2000 ARS (20 kronor).
Burgarna såg riktigt trevliga ut när de anlände. Båda burgarna hade visserligen olika bröd, men synonymt för båda var att de var bleka och ganska degiga. Alldeles för mjukt bröd är något vi tyvärr har stött på väldigt ofta i Argentina, och vi hade hoppats på lite bättre struktur. Köttet smakade gott, men stekytan var mer knaprig än krispig, och det var lite tuggigt inuti. Vår Americana hade riktigt trevliga texturer från både picklesen och löken, och vi uppskattade verkligen smaken från deras pickles. Men det vade varit trevligare om baconet hade varit mer salt och rökigt. Royale with Cheese, som var deras klassiska cheeseburgare, var tyvärr jämnmjuk och smakade mest av ketchup. Våra pommes frites var okryddade och lite bleka, men blev såklart roligare när vi saltade dem själva.
Voraz serverar helt okej burgare, men här fanns det inget som verkligen stack ut och fick dem att skilja dem från mängden. Och i en så pass stor stad som Buenos Aires krävs det att man gör något annorlunda – eller åtminstone inte gör samma grundläggande fel som många andra ställen – för att vara värda en längre omväg.

Voraz is a small burger chain in Buenos Aires with four restaurants in Argentina’s capital. We visited their large unit in Belgrano, which was a converted apartment block with a large outdoor terrace. Their menu was quite extensive, and many of the burgers had different buns. We ended up choosing a Double Royale with Cheese with two 120-gram beef patties, four slices of cheese, chopped onions and Royale sauce in a brioche bun for 14300 ARS (12 USD) and a Double Americana with two 120-gram beef patties, four slices of cheese, bacon, chopped onions, pickles, aioli and ketchup in a potato bun for 15800 ARS (13.5 USD). We also added french fries for 2000 ARS (2 USD).
Our burgers looked really nice when they arrived. Both burgers had different buns, but synonymous to both was that they were pale and quite doughy. Too soft buns are something we have unfortunately encountered very often in Argentina, and we had hoped for a little better texture. The patty tasted good, but the crust was more crunchy than crispy, and it was a bit chewy inside. Our Americana had really nice textures from both the pickles and the onions, and we really appreciated the flavour from their pickles. But it would have been nicer if the bacon had been more salty and smoky. The Royale with Cheese, which was their classic cheeseburger, was unfortunately uniformly soft and tasted mostly of ketchup. Our fries were unseasoned and a little pale, but naturally became more enjoyable when we salted them ourselves.
Voraz serve decent burgers, but here they offered nothing that really made them stand out from the crowd. And in a city as big as Buenos Aires, you need to do something different – or at least not make the same basic mistakes as many other places – to be worth a longer detour.
