In English

Bamba, also known as Bambabilen or Bamba Gatukök, opened their restaurant in Hemmesta on Värmdö in 2022 after spending several years on the road with their food truck. We have been there several times before, and this time we ordered three burgers; a Double Cheese with cheese, pickles, onions, burger sauce, mustard and ketchup, a Double Chili & Bacon with cheese, bacon, chilli flakes, lettuce, onions, BBQ sauce and chilli béarnaise, and a Double Surf & Turf with cheese, shrimp salad, roasted onions, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, burger sauce, ketchup and mustard. All three burgers contained two 90-gram patties and cost 150 SEK (16 USD) during lunch, including french fries, a drink and a dip.

Our burgers looked very inviting with a nice crust and well-thought-out proportions. The bun was soft and squishy and felt good in our hands. Unfortunately, the crown was cold on our Surf & Turf burger, but on the other two it was warm and had been thoroughly toasted on the inside. The meat on all three burgers had a generous crust, but when we took our first bite, the meat flavour was quite mild and not as prominent as we had hoped. In fact, none of our burgers stood out just as much as they did on our latest visit, which was surprising considering that the list of ingredients promised a much more powerful flavour. We also thought that the bacon on our Chili & Bacon burger was too floppy, and the saltiness was lost in the burger. And our Double Cheese burger needed something with more acidity to cut through. The french fries were of nice quality, with a nice texture and flavour, and disappeared quickly during the meal. But we left the accompanying dip almost untouched.

Bamba still serve affordable burgers, but they need to turn up the flavours a few notches if they want to return to their former glory days.

03 oktober 2022, Bamba

We’ve had problems chasing down the foodtruck Bambabilen (or Bamba Gatukök as they’re also known) for a while, which was why we were happy to see them open up a real restaurant called Bamba out in Värmdö, just outside central Stockholm. Here they serve tunnbrödrulle (Swedish flatbread sausage rolls), tacos, kebab, falafel and also a handful different burgers. Their hamburger menu consists of several classics, but also some wild varieties. We ordered their 2 Much burger with three 90-gram beef patties, four slices of cheese, bacon, onion, pickles, roasted onions and a honey mustard sauce. It cost 149 SEK (13.5 USD), including an order of french fries.

Our triple burger came served on a silver tray, looking deliciously greasy and shiny. It was a real beast, and we couldn’t wait to bite into it. The beef patties had a great crust and were properly seasoned, but the burger had been assembled a bit too quickly as the bottom bun slowly disintegrated throughout our meal, despite being nicely toasted. The sweet pickle was very thinly sliced and had mainly been placed in the middle of the burger, affecting the balance somewhat. And together with their rather sweet honey mustard sauce our burger became a bit too sweet overall – especially a few bites in. But apart from these mistakes we felt that Bamba really delivered a solid burger experience. Our golden french fries were crispy and completely addictive, and we really appreciated their addition.

The restaurant itself wasn’t super cozy, but seeing as we also reviewed the previous tenants we can safely say that Bamba have made some major improvements here as well. We are very happy to see that Hemmesta and Värmdö in general now have a really good burger restaurant to call their own.

🇦🇪 @she_burger ★★★★☆

She Burger is a restaurant chain with several locations in Dubai and around the Middle East, and they participated in the Dubai Burger Championship 2026. The burger they served at the festival was the same name as the restaurant, She Burger, and it consisted of two smashed beef patties, roasted onions, veal bacon jam with a lot of coffee, and their signature sauce for 60 AED (16.5 USD).

We immediately felt that the burger had a very international appearance when we saw it, and it offered a well-shaped brioche bun, plenty of toppings, double meat patties. The bun was soft and had a good size, but the heel would have been able to handle the beef juices better if they’d let the patties rest before assembly. The Black Angus meat had a strong meat flavour with a robust seasoning, but we felt that the crust should have been more pronounced and that the meat could have been even juicier. The fried onion was texturally brilliant, and it added both flavour and a lovely crunch that the burger really needed. The veal bacon jam was incredibly good and had a much more mature taste than we are normally used to. It was very coffee heavy, which we really appreciated. On the other hand, the signature sauce was completely anonymous and didn’t make any real impression.

She Burger do a lot right with this burger, but they need to refine the details and the meat to really make it a winner. But that being said, they offer one of the better burgers in Dubai.

🇸🇪 @thellas_foodtruck ★★★★☆

Thellas is a food truck in Gävle that we’ve heard a lot of positive things about since they opened in 2024. The menu at the time of our visit consisted of four beef burgers and a vegetarian option. We chose the classic ”Thellas Cheese” cheeseburger with double burger cheese, silver onions, dill pickles, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. A single patty burger cost 115 SEK (12.5 USD), but we ordered a double 120-gram patty burger with for 145 SEK (15.5 USD) and also added 30 SEK (3 USD) for french fries and 15 SEK (1.5 USD) for a chili mayo.

There was a long line of people waiting for their food, and when the burger was served we were greeted by a well-composed and inviting cheeseburger. The first bite was incredibly flavourful and juicy, with a very clear crust on the patties. The beef was well-seasoned with a generous amount of coarsely ground black pepper. And the creamy cheese was delicious and nicely melted over the beef. Unfortunately, the bun was a bit of a disappointment, because despite looking good, it had been toasted for too long on the grill and lacked the fluffy texture we expect from a brioche bun. Their own-pickled cucumber was delicious and added both acidity and crunch, and we would have liked to see more of it so that it was spread over the entire burger. All the sauces did their job without standing out and were also in the right amount, without any one of them overpowering the others. We also liked the generous portion of crispy french fries, and the smoky chilli mayo was tasty – although it could have been a bit spicier.

Thellas undoubtedly serve one of the better burgers we’ve eaten in Gävle, and the service from the guys in the food truck was excellent as well. We definitely recommend keeping an eye on their schedule and visiting them if you’re in the area.
