Tribeca

Ingen New York-burgare

In English

Tribeca on Kungsholmen in Stockholm is located in the same premises that formerly housed Rockin Burgers, and some things were the same as before. The pastel colours had been replaced by muted neutrals, but some decorations were still there. The connection to the trendy Tribeca district of New York, however, was absent. We visited them during lunchtime, and their menu consisted of five different beef burgers and a handful of chicken, fish, halloumi and falafel options. We ordered their Original with a 150-gram beef patty, cheddar, onions, tomato, lettuce, ketchup and a burger sauce. It cost 115 SEK (11 USD) including fries, and could also be ordered with two 100-gram beef patties for 135 SEK (12.5 USD).

Our burger looked nice when it arrived, in a warm brioche bun that was lightly toasted on the inside. The beef patties had a pretty good crust, but unfortunately lacked any significant crispy texture when we took a bite. Unfortunately, the patty also contained several chewy bits here and there, but it was well-seasoned with pepper and plenty of salt, which elevated the meat flavour. However, the lone slice of cheese would have been better off doubled. The amount of vegetables was well balanced, and everything had been cut into thin slices, adding a fresh and pleasant texture to each bite. But the burger dressing didn’t taste like much and therefore didn’t add anything special to the meal. Our fries were quite thick and had a bit of skin left on them, and thanks to the fact that they were well-fried and salted just right, we finished them in a flash.

Our burger was very similar to the ones we’ve had at Rockin Burgers over the years, though a little more refined. Everything tasted good and felt well thought out, but we didn’t really get anything that stood out from the crowd.

🍔 Review № 1381

Black Bear Burger is one of the veterans of the modern burger wave in England, and we have tried their burgers several times since our first review in 2017. Over the years, Black Bear Burger has received more and more attention and hype, both domestically and internationally, and today they are one of the most well-known burger restaurants in all of England. They have locations at nearly 10 places around London, and we visited their restaurant inside the Market Halls Victoria food hall and ordered their Double Miso Bacon Burger – the same burger that won them the National Burger of the Year 2025 award. The burger contained double patties, double cheese, smoked bacon and their miso butter mayo, and it cost 15.8 GBP (21 USD).

The burger looked exactly as we remembered it, with pre-formed patties and a pale bun covered in a generous layer of sesame seeds. The bun was soft and fluffy, but just like on our previous visits, we felt that the crust-like amount of sesame seeds took over both in terms of flavour and texture. The meat was of high quality as always and had a nice and potent dry-aged character that they are known for. The meat could have been juicier though, as it felt a bit too compact this time. The bacon was super tasty and crispy, just the way we like it, and the onion also contributed a nice texture. Their miso butter mayo was very flavourful with its buttery, salty, and umami-rich taste, but together with the bacon and the beef, the overall flavour profile was a bit too salty. We would have liked to see some kind of freshness to break up the saltiness for a more complete experience.

We are very happy that a veteran like Black Bear Burger continues to deliver high-quality burgers year after year, and they are still a safe bet when you are craving a really good burger in London.
